The "Daring Divers From Hell" lounging around the San Pedro Sula
airport, waiting for our "puddle-jumper" which would take us to
Utila by way of La Ceiba.
Ken Scarbrough of Ultimate Dive Travel. Ken's the guy who put this
whole trip together. Hey, Ken, do I get a discount next year for
this shameless plug?
The airport terminal at La Ceiba. Yeah, that's pretty much the entire
airport. Actually pretty plush compared to other places we've been.
And just wait 'til you see the airport at Utila!
The little airplane that will take us to Utila. These things were
an experience by themselves. The planes were built in the Czech
Republic. All the signs were in Czech and English, and the crew
spoke only Spanish. Pretty stable in the air, though.
Here we are at "Utila International Airport". See that structure over
on the right behind that yellow luggage cart? That would be the
"terminal building".
A panoramic view of the "airport". Hey, at least the runway was
more-or-less paved. Better than we've seen at other places.
We never found out for sure if this little hamlet had a name. We
think they called the village itself "Utila". Anyway, it's on the
island of Utila, and it's where the airport is. We had to get on
a boat to take us to our resort, which was on a TINY little island
just off the small island of Utila.
Here's "Trish, the Wonder Dog". Really friendly pooch. She belongs
to the owner of the resort we stayed at. Or maybe she's the owner
and the person belongs to her. Tough to tell from the dog's behavior.
A snapshot of the island of Utila, taken from the boat as we headed
over to the Laguna Beach Resort.
An "action shot" of Jeff, taken while he was lounging around in my cabana.
